LET THE BATTLES BEGIN...
In this reading incentive program, fourth and fifth grade students are given a list of 12 titles that must be read collectively by team members before the battles begin in May.
Students are assigned to teams within their homeroom by their teachers. They must then work together to make sure that each book on the list has been read by at least one member.
After some team meetings and strategizing sessions, steams compete in jeopardy-like battles until there is a winning team from each grade.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…
Do I have to read all the books on the list?
NO, you will only have to read the books that you and your team assign to you.
How many books will I have to read?
Each student will read at least one book from now until May. Read alouds and audio books count!
Can I read more books than my assigned books?
YES, of course, as it will help your group to have more people with knowledge of that book.
Do I have to do any assignments with these books?
No but you may chose to complete a graphic organizer with each book.
Where can I find copies of the books during the school year?
Copies are available at the Galo Library at East Elementary
